Nice
Nice is France's fifth most populous city, after Paris, Marseille, Lyon and Toulouse, and is the capital of the Alpes Maritimes department, located on the southeastern coast of France in the Mediterranean Sea, being the second largest French city on the Mediterranean coast and second largest city in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region after Marseille.
The town is called Nice la Belle (Nissa La Bella in Niçard), which means Good, the Beautiful, which is also the title of the unofficial anthem of Nice, written by Menica Rondelly in 1912.
Nice has an ideal location between the Mediterranean Sea and the mountains, being only a few kilometers from the Italian border. With a mild climate, constant sunshine, various types of landscapes and, of course, magnificent beaches of an unmistakable blue, this becomes a holiday region par excellence!
A city full of history, culture, art, events, leisure, nature and cuisine full of different tastes and land.
Tourism
Nice combines authentic charm with the liveliness of the Mediterranean while offering a full schedule of activities.
Enjoy to visit the MAMAC and all the art galleries that are on the way to unveil the old part of the city. This is a land of artists and here you can find works of Matisse or Chagall, but also interventions by local artists, as is the case of the well-known Ben.
Thanks to the French Riviera pass, you can enjoy discounts at some of the museums and places to visit.
Discover and rediscover Nice, a city of smells and tastes, by visiting the markets buying fresh flowers, vegetables and fruits.
Do not miss the opportunity to walk the streets of the old city, which offers a wide range of typical restaurants that will let you surrender to the local gastronomy: a happy combination between French and Italian cuisine.
Urban, cultural seafront - Nice is waiting for you!

Do not miss out on Nice:
Museums: Chagall, Matisse, MAMAC, Fine Arts, Asian Arts, Naif Arts
Old town: in particular the flower market and the baroque heritage.
Promenade des Anglais

The Nice Carnival
The Carnival of Nice is one of the largest events on the Côte d'Azur and takes place every February. For the event, there is a procession of flowers that takes care of the city!
Gastronomy
Nice cuisine uses local landscape resources (olive oil, anchovies, fruit and vegetables), but also features from more remote regions, especially those in northern Europe, because of the ships that came to get olive oil to arrive full of food.
Nice has some local dishes. There is a local pie made with onion and anchovy sauce, with the name "pissaladière". "Socca" is a type of pancake made from chickpea flour.
"Farcis niçóis" is a dish made from vegetables stuffed with breadcrumbs, and the "niçoise" salad is a tomato salad with green peppers, boiled eggs, tuna or anchovies and olives.
The local meat comes from neighboring valleys, like the sheep of Sisteron. Local fish, such as mullet, sea urchin, sea urchins, and anchovies are used in large quantities, so much so that a proverb was born: "fish are born in the sea and die in the oil."
Of course, this refers to the olive oil made in the hills of Nice.
Seafood is usually also much appreciated in the delicious and healthy cuisine of Nice.
Weather
Nice has a Mediterranean climate, with mild temperatures most of the year.
The summer is long and warm, with a pleasant breeze from the sea to cool the temperature during the day can reach between 38 and 40 ° C.
The nights are warm throughout the season and can be humid.
Precipitation is relatively low in early summer and July is the driest month of the year, but September the rain and heavy downpours or thunderstorms are quite likely to happen.
Winter weather in Nice (December to February) is mild, with an average temperature of 13 ° C, and a minimum average of 6 ° C in January and February - the coldest months. The thermometer rarely drops below 5 ° C, even at night.
