Island of Formentera
Formentera is the smallest and most southerly island of the Pitiusic Islands (which includes Ibiza and Formentera as well as several other small islands), which belongs to the autonomous community Balearic Islands (Spain).
With only one municipality, ie Francesc Xavier de Formentera, this small municipality is distributed in several cities.
Some of these cities are La Savina, where the marina and the maritime station are located in Formentera, and Francesc Xavier.
San Francesc Xavier can be described as the capital of the island, 3 km from the Port of Formentera and the seat of the island's prefecture.
Tourism
In Sant Francesc, many important celebrations are celebrated due to the fact that in this city one finds most of the monuments and churches.
La Savina is the most touristic place on the island and is also its point of entry. It is a tourist transit place, boats and yachts, bars, restaurants, nightclubs, businesses and a large promenade along the beach.
Other towns are Sant Ferran, where there are also many bars and restaurants, as well as easy access to La Mola, which is 200 meters above sea level with a breathtaking view.

Gastronomy
With the arrival of tourists, attracted by the picturesque lifestyle that it offers, its gastronomy began to develop based on products of the sea and the countryside.
Fish and seafood are the most traditional foods of Formentera. A very typical main course of fish is "bullit de ratjada".
As for seafood, the lobster "Lobster stew" with lobster or squid only.
The "Maris guisat" is another of the delicious seafood dishes one can find on the island.
As in the rest of the Balearic Islands, in Formentera it uses a lot of lamb and pork. Of the pig mainly every year in the autumn, a pig slaughter is made, a tradition of the family, where today they eat accompanied with a special rice, "rice of Matanzas", also making sausages, like " sausage or sausage ", not to mention the delicious" cokes ", which are square pasties stuffed with meat, fish or chopped vegetables.
The "mosona salsa" is a very typical sauce on the islands, made by grinding almond, hazelnut and pine nuts with chicken liver and cinnamon. It is served with meat or fish stews but is really good with bread as an appetizer or as hors d 'oeuvres.
Also outstanding are the "Salsa de Nadal", especially at Christmas, the chopped almond, different meats and cinnamon ... a recipe that varies and passes from generation to generation.
Figs are very popular, normal or dry.
 The goat cheese produced in Formentera is also of great quality, delicious with grapes and bread, especially when the bread is made at home.
The excellent dried fish in the sun is used in salads.

In Formentera the average summer temperatures are around 31 ° C, (87 ° F) for the evening, the average minimum temperature drops to around 22 ° C (72 ° F).
In winter average temperatures drop to about 16 ° C (61 ° F) during the day and to around 10 ° C (50 ° C) at night.
Peak summer sea temperatures between 24 ° C and 28 ° C (75 ° F and 82 ° F) in mid-August, and the coolest between 14 ° C to 15 ° C (57 ° F to 59 ° F ° F) in March.
