Lagos
Lagos is a Portuguese town in the District of Faro, Algarve region and sub-region. The city itself has a population of approximately 22,000 people.
It is located in the Barlavento, the western part of the Algarve.
It is a historical city (Portuguese Discoveries) and tourist (beaches and nightlife). The majority of the population resides in the outskirts of the city, seeking to enjoy beautiful landscapes to the sea or the Serra de Monchique; and works, for the most part, in the tourist industry. The interior of the city is old and almost pedestrian, offering tourists the delights of good restaurants, bars, cafes and, to the inhabitants, the most diverse commercial possibilities.
It is one of the most visited cities in the Algarve due to its beauty, the large number of beaches, bars, hotels and restaurants that it has.

Gastronomy
In Lagos, the pleasure of the table knows the sea. Because it is from the sea that come its delicious soups of langueirão, conquilha and fish, the fragrant açorda accompanied with mussels, cockles, clams and shellfish, and the main dishes that delight those who like fish and seafood. The spiced carpaccio, stew of monkfish or tuna steak and tuna steak are joined by the always appetizing clams on the cataplana, the shellfish feijoada so typical of the fishermen and the full squid, stuffed with ham and chorizo and many condiments.
Whoever eats well does not forget that Lagos produces white wines, half dry, and a full-bodied red that speaks of grapes and sun.
In the past, Lagos has a tradition that dates back to the times when the nuns of the Convento de Nossa Senhora do Carmo created the recipe for the gift-rodrigos, resplendent to cinnamon. Filled with figs and almonds, full figs and honey cakes are a good way to finish the meal, accompanied by a sweet liqueur wine with the locally sourced muscatel grapes.
